Dr. Vinod K Srivastava, MD, DPH, MSc Comm Med (UK), is a senior Public Health Specialist having long experience in medical education in India. He served as a Professor of Social & Preventive Medicine / Head, Department of Hospital Administration at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, India teaching community medicine / hospital administration to medical students for over 30 years. Dr. Srivastava is also a well known epidemiologist who besides his training in India, also received trainings at CDC / Emory University, Atlanta, USA and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London. He also has experience of serving as an epidemiologist at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.
Dr. Srivastava also undertaken and coordinated various research projects and has been Principal Investigator of over 35 research projects funded by various agencies viz. WHO, Unicef, World Bank, CARE, PATH, JHU, ICMR, Govt. of India etc. His current research interests include prevention of non-communicable diseases and program evaluation. He has published over 110 research papers in leading national and international journals and guided over 40 students for MD and PhD degrees. He has also worked as Chief Editor of the Indian Journal of Public Health. He is currently member of the Advisory Board of Indian Journal of Community Medicine, Indian Journal of Community Health, Indian Journal of Public Health and Health and Population- Perspectives and Issues. Dr Srivastava has also been a visitor to National Cancer Institute, NIH, Bethseda, USA where he delivered a guest lecture on Prospects of Cancer Prevention in India with particular reference to Oral Cancers.
Dr. Srivastava has also occupied various other important training and research positions in India viz. Director, State Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Lucknow; a state level training and research institute of the State of UP; and as Director, Regional Medical Research Centre, NE Region (Indian Council of Medical Research), Dibrugarh. In recognition of his services in the field of public health, he was awarded Fellowships of Indian Public Health Association (FIPHA) and Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (FIAPSM) in the year 1991, Fellowship of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS), India in 2009 and Fellowship of Indian Society of Medical Statistics (FSMS) in 2010. He has also served as the National President of the Indian Public Health Association during 1998-1999 and President of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine in 2009-2010. Dr. Srivastava is also an active member of the International Clinical Epidemiology Network (INCLEN) as well as current Regional Councilor, International Epidemiological Association, South East Asia Region.
